What Is ProtoPie User Testing?
ProtoPie User Testing is a secured, high-fidelity research environment built directly into your prototyping workflow. You set a goal, invite a participant, and observe how they interact with your prototype in real time, and watch instant replays immediately after, without exporting, without losing your interaction logic, and without switching tools.

- Exact Path: The participant follows a specific interaction sequence you define. Use this to validate efficiency: does the user find the right flow, and how quickly? Results include a path match score showing how closely they followed your intended sequence.
- Reach Final Scene: The participant succeeds by arriving at a target scene, regardless of route. Best for open-ended tests: can users reach the outcome, even via an unexpected path?
- Free Explore: No success criteria. Users move freely through the prototype while ProtoPie maps the paths taken, time spent, and most common first actions, revealing where attention naturally goes.
A Live War Room For Your Whole Team
Testing shouldn't be a solo activity. User Testing is built for the whole team, but only people running tests need a paid seat.
Moderators must be ProtoPie Studio Editors, and the Moderator seat is what unlocks the full testing workflow: creating test rooms, running live sessions, and bookmarking key moments as Highlight, shareable clips useful for surfacing friction points or unexpected behavior without sitting through a full replay. Moderators can also export the full interaction data as CSV for deeper analysis when needed.
The rest of the team (designers, developers, stakeholders) can join as free Observers, watching sessions live without needing a paid seat. Access can be scoped to your whole organization or specific teams spaces.
